**just wrote a comparison of the Curry Two, Rose 6, Lebron XIII if you’re deciding between the three*

I’ll admit it, I love Steph Curry and everything he’s about. From family to golf to hoops, he’s awesome. I loved watching him grow from the Davidson days to the MVP and NBA champion.
I also loved how the UA Curry One looked, but didn’t love the cushioning set up as I’ve stuck to my Clutchfit Drives due to the more responsive and softer cushioning set up. My Curry Ones do see daylight on occasion but they are mostly seeing the inside of their boxes. With the Curry Two, I have a new go to shoe that claims my top spot.
Pros: outstanding traction, cushioning, support and stability, containment, USA price of $130
Cons: better quality control ? Asia price of $195?
Best for: guards primarily. Bigs may enjoy the Charged only stable set up
Here is my original Curry One Review
Curry One Performance Review
Weight
UA shaved an ounce off the weight from the Curry One and is only half an ounce heavier than the CF Lightning which is UA’s lightest current shoe.
Here are the other UA shoes’ weights for reference:
Clutchfit Drive 1: 14 oz
Curry One: 15 oz
UA Torch: 14.5 oz
UA Lightning: 13.5 oz
Traction
Under Armour ditched the traditional herringbone set up and went with a multidirectional pattern that UA calls “organic herringbone”. It is not a story telling pattern but not a plain Jane herringbone set up either.
The rubber is much softer than the Curry One set up, the edges of the grooves are thinner/sharper and the grooves are deeper.
The end result is outstanding traction that I would put right up there with the Kobe IX and AJ XX8.
I tested the Two directly against the Kobe IX and was amazed even after I did this 
I stepped in all the dust I swept up with both the Kobe IX and the Curry Two and both just kept going without missing a beat. Amazing
The Twos just squeak and stop on any surface. The Curry One and Clutchfit Drive provided excellent traction but I did have to wipe to keep it that way while the Two takes it another notch without wiping. Just perfect.
Cushioning
For me the Achilles heel of the Curry One was the cushioning. A layer of Charged Foam over Micro G didn’t feel like anything special to me. No bounce or responsiveness at all left me no choice but to stick with the Clutchfit Drive. I’ve said it before, cushioning really gives a shoe its personality and that’s where I thought the One fell short. It isn’t always a performance deal breaker but it changes how much I enjoy wearing a certain shoe. So it was really disappointing that the Curry One didn’t have that fun responsive feel like the Clutchfit Drive.
The Curry Two uses a full length pure Charged set up just like the Clutchfit Drive 2. I reviewed the Clutchfit Drive 2 and enjoyed the Charged only set up, especially versus the Curry One. I’m pleased to say that the Curry Two feels almost exactly the same as the Clutchfit Drive 2 but slightly softer and more responsive. The set up is not nearly as firm as the Curry One and almost as soft as the Clutchfit Drive 1. I’d say it plays one half to one level firmer than the Clutchfit Drive 1 while the Curry One plays two levels firmer. It feels more similar to the Curry One Low but even softer. I should also note the Curry Two rides the same height as the One.
Charged vs Micro G
As I stated in my CFD2 review, pure Charged feels denser and firmer than Micro G. It feels plush when moving slow but firms up on sudden movements. I could feel the cushioning firming up on quicker movements and softening up on slow steps with the Curry Two while I couldn’t feel anything but a very firm set up on the Curry One. If I had to choose between Micro G and the pure Charged on the Two, I’d have to wuss out and say it depends on the day. Sometimes I like the firmer feel of the Two and sometimes I like the softer feel of the Clutchfit Drive I. As of today, I’m loving the Charged only set up of the Curry Two though.
**side note
There is not a removable insole in the Curry Two, it is sewn in. Can’t tell what it is but it definitely isn’t Ortholite . It is extremely minimal though to allow the wearer to get lower to the ground and to feel the Charged foam . I do not believe there is a last in the shoe so that really helps bring the Charged foam alive. Very similar to what Adidas does with Pure Boost. **
I should also mention that transition from heel to toe is seamless despite having a pretty sizable shank plate. I was worried when I saw the pics because it reminded me of the XX8.
This iteration of Charged is what I expected out of UA the first time and I really like it a lot.
Fit and Materials
I bought my normal size 11 and these fit about 1/4 size short length wise which is ok for me since the width was perfect and didn’t suffocate my feet like the Curry One Low. If you’re a tweener who likes more space at the toe, I suggest going up half a size or wear thinner socks. If not stay true to size. You can see just by looking at the shoes side by side that the overall size of the Two is smaller.
Speedform replaces the Anafoam upper of the Curry One 
I wasn’t sure how this would play out since I’ve tried the Speedform Apollo running shoes before and found it comfortable but somewhat lacking in warmth. Speedform was marketed a lot when the Apollo came out and in essence it is a seamless thin upper made in a bra factory (although there is a seam on these where the synthetic starts ). Here is a good read about it on Gizmodo
You can see how much more padding there is in the ankle collar 
I heard a slight tearing sound at the heel when I first put these on but I guess it’s just the fabric stretching because I didn’t see anything torn.
When I laced these up for the first time, I had a little rubbing from the ankle collar but it went away quickly

I still had that cold feeling due to the thinness of the upper but as I played, I forgot about that feeling and that I was wearing shoes at all. No heel slippage or movement side to side at all. Fit nirvana achieved.
The toe box is synthetic and takes a few only a few minutes to break in. It does wrinkle quite a bit but does not peel and tear like the toe on the Curry One. There is very little if any deadspace in the toe box above the foot and zero side to side.

The rest of the Speedform upper just conforms to the foot after warming up.
Above: you can see the cut is a little lower with the Two.
Breathability is just average. You might see lots of holes but that just leads to another layer. I could care less anyways.
Support and stability
Support comes from the excellent fit and heel counter
while the stability comes from the flat wide outsole. I found the Curry Two to be more stable that the One as it is not tippy at all.
Above: I really like the segmented heel similar to the Super.Fly 4. In the middle is Charged foam
Couple that with the firmer Charged set up and larger shank and it is a very stable shoe. I found the stability to be outstanding without being restrictive.
Excellent job by UA.
Containment
Containment is also excellent on the Curry Two. No issues with my foot coming out at all from the footbed due to the synthetic in the toe box and footstay as well as a raised midsole (ala Rose 5)

Midsole is raised all the way around the shoe 
Seems like all the companies are raising the midsole up to keep the foot contained. I hope this trend continues.
As you can see the medial side is also raised but UA was doing that with the Spawn. In the Spawn you could feel it under the arch but you don’t really feel it under the arch with the Two since the Charged wall is more to the side and not directly underfoot which I actually prefer.
Just no movement side to side even on hard cuts.
Conclusion
The Curry One didn’t sell that well initially. I mean they sold but they didn’t have crazy Jordanlike sell outs until Curry won the MVP and the Dubs captured the title. Then it was reseller mania, fakes from China, stats on Campless, people saying what an awesome shoe it was (same people prior said they’d never wear UA) …. Surprised the bandwagon didn’t break with all the people jumping on it.
The Curry Two didn’t radically change its looks as it it keeps a similar silouette to the One. However UA overhauled everything from the ground up by changing the cushioning, upper and traction and all for the better. And personally I love almost every colorway of the Two. UA is going to make a lot off me. $130 times 6 or 7 must have colorways…times two for some . Yikes
I really liked the little details in this shoe as well. Each shoe has its nickname sewn in.
Look at all that stitching 
The only downside to the shoe that I can think of is a little excess glue and the foam rails wrinkle a lot.
But after all is said and done, everything on the Curry Two is as good as or improved from the Curry One. It looks great, performs even better and the price stayed relatively the same at $130 (except in Asia, sorry guys !). Did I mention the traction? I’m still giddy about how well it performed. As I said earlier the Curry Two is now at the top of my rotation beating out the Clutchfit Drive 1, Rose 5, and Soldier VI. It does every exceptionally well but thetraction really pushed it to the the top. The first colorway to drop in the US will be the “Iron sharpens Iron”colorway on October 24 and I’ll be waiting patiently for my two pairs.

Great reviews sir! Just curious, what position do you play? I’m guessing 2/3. Two shoe related questions:
1) Curry 2 or CFD 2? It seems you prefer Curry 2. As a 2, I like having a mids that I can quickly square up and shoot without slipping but also ones that allows me to run freely in transition. CFD2 is $20-$30 cheaper than Curry2 at the moment and wondering if its worth getting C2.
2) Since playing 2-3 hrs at a time, I always get runner’s toe — blackened and throbbing at times. I’ve tried shoes that fit and ones that are .5 bigger — to no avail. Any advice? Should one look for shoes w/ a bigger toe box?

I’m 1-3 typically sometimes 4 in Asian leagues since everyone is smaller in those league.
I prefer the curry 2 mainly because the traction is better than the CfD2 or 1. However I’d pick the cfd 1 over the 2 bc I like the micro g set up better. Cfd 2 vs curry 2. They feel very similar to each other and perform pretty close but as I said earlier traction is better on the Curry 2.
As for your toes. Do you mean turf toe.? Banging it into the front of your shoe ? If so better to go up in size but make sure your foot isn’t sliding into the front in the toe box . I prefer a finger width at the toe box . Hope that helps

Hello, I am from Peru and really need your help. I started playing basketball about two years ago and love it now. That´s why I wanted to buy my first pair of basketball shoes. I can´t buy them here so I will buy them from USA, I don´t want to make a mistake so could you help me? I was wondering wether the Curry 2 is better than the Hyperrev 2016 or not. I am choosing between those models. For me, what´s important is that it allows me to move fast, that it provides a good fit and confortable materials. And, I was really worried about the wrinkle problem in the Curry2, does this shoes are durable?

Curry two is very durable and the wrinkles are just cosmetic . Cushioning is better on the Hyperrev . You can’t go wrong with either really . Curry two is a little more stable as well btw

Hi Schwollo, quick question.
I am very, very picky when it comes to traction. If it’s not stopping on a dime when I plant my foot, it’s a deal breaker.
The only shoe that I own that holds up to my standard is the Hyperdunk 2013. The Hyperdunk 2012, Hyperfuse line, Kobe V and iii, LeBron 11, Cluthfit Drive are just some other shoes I’ve tried the past few years.
I know a lot of reviewers have said the Cluthfit Drive had excellent traction and I agree to a certain point. Dust was an issue and I always felt the slightest bit of “grip slip” even on decent courts if you know what I mean. For example it would squeak and stop, but I didn’t feel like it was immediate. Deal breaker for someone who relies on every bit of quickness I have to be effective.
Are the Curry 2’s on the same level at the Hyperdunk 2013?

Think they are better. Your list of shoes all have pretty average traction across the board aside from the cfd and hd12 (never used Hyperfuse).i know the grip slip you speak of on the cfd although I still think it is great overall.

I wanted to ask about the tearing noise in the heel you heard early on – did you ever figure out what that was? I’ve been hearing a tearing noise too in my first couple of wears, but at the outrigger area. It doesn’t look like anything is actually torn though. There has been some people on niketalk that have reported the tearing noise as well. Thanks!

It is just the fabric at the heel stretching when you put them on. No issues at all for me. Tearing noise at the outrigger? Never heard that on mine. Don’t know how it would make that noise unless it’s that little piece that connects the synthetic

Curry two traction is deep but too soft for outdoors imo. Will wear down. Of the three the Lillard has the most appropriate rubber for outdoors but grooves are shallow so still not great for outdoors. I think soldier ix would work outdoors well.

Shoe is extremely stable underfoot so doesn’t need a lot of structure or support up top. Cushioning could be softer like micro g but it isn’t far off and works well for me and my game

Thank you for the kind words. From what I’ve read women’s shoes are made a little wider in the forefoot and are 1.5 sizes down from a men’s shoe. You might try buying a smaller men’s shoe or buying a boys size (they run they same as women’s I think ). Are there any placing a you can try them

I am really picky when it comes to traction, My home court is pretty dusty and I don’t want to be slipping. I like to move really quickly and drive to the hoop and can shoot threes as well and I want some cushion. I also like squeaky shoes. I’ve been looking around and I’ve narrowed it down to 3 shoes
1. Curry 2 low
2. Kyrie 2
3. kobe 9

Kobe 9 has excellent traction . I am not a fan of drop in insoles and I feel it’s too tipsy at the heel but that’s just me.
In terms of traction, Kobe IX curry two and AJ xx8 top my list and most everybody’s.

People say that you can move quicker in the lows but if it doesn’t have good traction, then it;s not my kind of shoes. How about the J crossover 2? I don’t need much cushioning because I had the hyperdunks this year. The traction wasn’t great and it was really uncomfortable so if i can wear those, I can easily wear the kyrie 2’s. I just want to pick the shoe that will make me the best player that I can be. The problem with the A Jordan xx8 is that they’re really expensive and kinda ugly. The kobe 9’s are expensive also and for some reason I am having trouble finding them. So if you were me, what shoe wold you pick kobe 9’s, or kyrie 2’s?

JCrossover 2 low? I haven’t tried it only the mid. Good overall shoe but had containment issues with it. Low looks like it fixed it with different materials in the forefoot. You don’t move any faster in lows vs mids it’s all preference. Any of the three would be good choices. I personally use the curry two . Exceptional traction , fit,stability and containment . Kyrie 2 doesn’t do anything better and neither does Kobe 9.

I own the Curry 2s. Are the clutchfit drive 1s better in anyway? The Curry 2s make me feel faster than other shoes I’ve owned. I have to do a weird rocking thing during timeouts/stops when the cushion hurts my feet but it’s not that bad is that a big reason the Clutchfit is better? Would the clutchfit 1s make me feel slower or faster? Which has better: flexibility, fit, comfort? Which is better at that nice feeling you get when you forget you’re wearing it? I wear a 9.5 in the Curry 2s and it fits perfect what size in the Clutchfit should I get? I like it tight just not to the point it hurts. Thank you for the help.

Clutchfit has softer cushioning but traction isn’t as good and the fit isn’t as snug as the Curry 2. The curry two is a better shoe overall and I’d stick to what you have

Thank you for your very informative review, it made me want this shoe much more. And since, there’s no authorized outlet from where I am currently located (Port Moresby, PNG), I will have to order this shoe online, via the UA official website, where I want to order the elite version, but I am a bit confused with the size chart posted on that site. I measured my foot just recently and I’ve got a little bit over 10 1/2 inches with normal socks on and I got a bit of a wide foot -but not that wide (well, 2E wide as per NB sizing). It doesn’t matter how much it squeaks. Squeaking is just auditory feedback and has little to do with traction performance. If you’re looking for best traction Curry two AJ xx8 or Kobe IX is what you want to look at

Mine have held up but I also have a rotation of four curry twos along with my normal rotation of shoes lol. Ua has good customer service regarding defects (did some in the past w other shoes).

My 2 cents. Just got my first pair of Curry 2s after trying 4 or 5 Nikes that didn’t feel comfortable. Really wanted to stick true to my typical size because if I size up due to one trouble spot, I’m inevitably creating too much space in another. I want that 1-1 fit all around. I’m coming from a Soldier 8 that I really like. I don’t wear test so I have limited shoes to compare things to.
Depending on what you’re looking for, this shoe is awesome. Traction, fit, lock down, containment, stability all excellent. You stop on a dime. It fits like a glove everywhere with no extra space or slippage. Laces cinch this sucker to your foot like crazy and you get a great 1-1 fit. I have wide feet and even though some reviews claim these are narrow, they work for me which was surprising.. super comfortable in the forefoot width wise, which is a tough place for me. The shoe is extremely stable. The soldier 9 has a large outrigger and is much wider than the Curry, but the Curry doesn’t wobble or tip at all and beats it hands down. Heel counter works fine but there isn’t much support beyond that. The flexible upper serves to make the shoe one with your foot, but it doesn’t support anything… shouldn’t need to with such a stable platform.
The one subjective aspect of the shoe is cushioning. You can’t really call Charged foam cushioning. It’s hard and doesn’t offer any bounce. Had the solder 8s and an old hyperdunk 2011 sitting around, and both those provide much more cushioning and bounce from their sub-par zoom units. I don’t mind it too much because the Curry has such court feel as a result, and you really feel quick in them. Trade offs. It’s definitely more responsive than softer shoes.
I’d absolutely recommend these if you want a shoe that fits and performs great and disappears on your foot, so long as you don’t want much impact protection or that bouncy feeling you get with zoom.

Some more feedback after wearing these for a week and a half, through 4 sessions.
Still on the fence about the cushioning. I really love the responsiveness and feeling of quickness and agility, but they aren’t as comfortable during a longer session as more squishy shoes. I think my feet still need to get used to em, but I typically come away with a little ache somewhere on my foot (minor issue).
Every time I lace them up, at first they pinch/rub against the inside of my ankles, but once the shoe itself warms up (like, the material gets warm), it goes away.. strange.
Once in awhile I get this sensation that the outside of my foot is breaking containment and hanging off the edge of the foot-bed in the toe box. I know this is basically impossible, and I’m struggling to understand where the feeling is coming from. Happens maybe once per hour of playing.

Oh, and ventilation isn’t very good. Compared to the soldier 8s, my feet get kinda sweaty.
all in all though, I still think it’s a great shoe and I’m enjoying it.. especially that grip. Just think the shoe and my foot need a little more break-in time.

It’s preference really. I tried on an 11.5 and they fit well with some more space at the toe and still no deadspace. If you like it tighter stay true to size.

I’ve heard the Sole Brothers say the traction needs to be constantly wiped on dusty floors. Is this the case in your experience Schwollo?
I respect all opinion, but respect yours more on this issue. I hate having to constantly wipe shoes if I want the great traction for a few steps haha

Haha thanks for the respect. I’ve been playing in these for almost 8 months and is still up there with the AJ xx8 and Kobe ix. I switch between the clutchfits which does a great job but needs wiping nd the curry two easily outperforms in the traction dept. I’ve probably gotten ten of my friends to switch to the curry two and that’s the first thing the remark about. You can’t play one day on a dirty court or a clean court let alone the same court and come to a conclusion because day to day conditions change. That’s also why I place traction tops on my needs list because who wants to keep swapping shoes for different courts ? Bad traction equals wasted energy and slowed reaction time which is a no no if you play hard. Sorry for the rant ! Lol

Most impact protection to least: Lebron 13, kd9, cfd2, Curry 2
Curry 2 is firm and low to ground so you might not enjoy it. Kd9 feels awesome heel to toe but you’re size might be too much for it . I’d look at Lebron 13, soldier ix, rose 6 or Hyperrev 16. All big guy friendly imo. Depends on your preferences of course. Rose 7 comes out next month too .

Haha next week? If you have thick ankles you might have trouble getting that tongue sitting squarely. I really like the burrito wrap which surprised me. It’s similar to curry 2 just a beefier upper.

I’m kinda torn which one to buy the Curry 2 or the JCrossover 3? If you put these 2 head to head and remove the containment issues of the Jcrossover 3 which one would you choose? Btw, i prefer shoes that makes me quick, but at the same time have good cushioning.

Curry 2 plays “quicker” . I swapped my curry 2 for cfd1 during a tournament and I felt slower in micro g. Black foam would feel even slower and higher up plus traction isn’t as good as the curry 2.

I noticed in your comments on I think it was the Kyrie 2 that you suffer with a Mortons Neuroma so require a wide fit.
I have the same issue and am struggling with the Kyries I currently have. What shoes do you recommend as a comfortable fit to ease the pain and discomfort?
I have read many reviews but few are recent and updated reviews leaving me with few options under £300.

Kyrie 2 might be the worst shoe for a Morton neuroma sufferer. Hard cushioning really irritates my neuromas. I discovered that walking on hardwood floors really irritates mine so I wear slippers at home. I also used a forefoot Cushion for a short time in my shoes lifted the irritated nerves off the footbed (don’t need them now). Best shoes for me and keeping neuromas at bay have been shoes with thicker and softer forefoot and softer insole . Rose 6 , KD 9, lebron x, top the list. Lillard 2 and crazylight Boost 2016 are good options as well . Crazy explosive bottomed out on me so didn’t make the cut here. Hope that helps !

Hi there, I found a deal of the XX8 hi with 180$, but one of my friends says I shouldn’t get those just because the popping Zoom and suggest me buy Hyperrev 2016 or Curry 2 because the Rev has nice Zoom and Curry 2s has same traction as these…. What do you think?

It will most likely pop. Even some low flyer friends of mine had theirs pop. Mine did not but I didn’t use mine extensively. Curry 2 is still one of my goto but all depends on what you want out of shoe.

You can. It runs a little shorter than true to size but width wise it’s fine for wide footers.

I love the curry 2. Firmer cushioning but still comfortable much better than the curry 4 cushioning. Worth a try if you like firmer cushioning.

I loved my Curry 2s but they’ve worn out after two year of outdoor play. I should have bought two pairs because now everywhere I look they’re sold out! 😦 Tried the Dame 4s as a replacement but the little horizontal grooves keep trapping sand in them.
