**just wrote a comparison of the Rose 6,Curry Two, Lebron XIII if you’re deciding on those three
King of the Court
Just call me Tinker(er) . A ten second, eight dollar fix made this shoe go from good to exceptional and into my top three .
The Rose 5 was one of my favorite shoes from last season as it made it into my top 5 rotation. It wasn’t perfect as there was some deadspace on top in the toe box which was remedied by a thicker insole (I don’t mind a little deadspace above the foot). Also the Boost in the forefoot didn’t feel as good as the Boost in the heel which made sense since there was less actual Boost in the forefoot (can’t be too plush up front otherwise you lose court feel). But overall the shoe performed beautifully for me because it did everything very well.
With the Rose 6 Boost, will Adidas take an already awesome performer and make it even better?
Pros: Ridiculous cushioning, support and stability, traction
Cons: Boost is NOT full length, strap lacing system is gimmicky, needs break in
Sizing advice: true to size, narrow footers go half size down. Ideally, best to try on though
Best for: any position, players who value cushioning first and foremost
This was a surprise to me. I thought the 6 would be lighter since it looks like it has less structure and thinner materials. For reference
Curry Two: 14 oz
Lebron XIII: 16 oz
Traction
I noticed a lot of concern regarding the traction pattern of the Rose 6 in forums and I advise people to stop judging traction patterns by their looks based on Internet footage. The pattern is shallow and has a translucent outsole (sarcastic gasp). But guess what, it works great. I have it on par with the Rose 5 for the most part except very dusty floors. These will wear down fast outside due to the thin grooves and soft rubber.
Slightly dusty: excellent
Semi dusty: very good needs wipes to stick though
Very dusty: good enough keep wiping though
When the sole is clean these squeak pretty loudly but they mute up quickly when dirt is present. No squeak doesn’t mean it isn’t working though. Surprisingly they don’t pick up loads of dirt. I have a high standard for traction performance and like the Rose 5, these meet it. And no, it isn’t as good as the Curry Two traction.
Cushioning
So…much..Boost
Similar to what Adidas improved with the Energy 2m to the Ultra Boost, Adidas added more Boost across the entire footbed making a big difference in how the shoe feels.
I loved the Boost in the Rose 5 even though the forefoot needed a little more but the Rose 6 makes the 5 set up feel almost flat. It’s consistently awesome from heel to toe and has that bounce and responsiveness I love.
I was worried when I saw pics of the Rose 6 because I couldn’t tell if it was full length Boost. I am happy to say it is FEELS like full length but unhappy it IS NOT at the same time. I do understand why though . (I apologize to those that asked me earlier if it was, I just did this today and honestly thought it was full length because it felt so good)
I cut a hole in the Stable Frame. I figured if Nike could stick a sensor in their shoes so it couldn’t hurt to make a small cut.
I discovered this is just Stable Frame foam (EVA). I cut all the way down in case you’re wondering.
I will say that I didn’t see any literature on Adidas.com that stated it was full length but we all just assumed it was.
At least Eastbay somewhat got it right .. And wrong at the same time
Without Stable Frame being in the middle, I find it hard to believe Adidas could use this much Boost without it getting unstable. Stable Frame is a higher density foam (EVA) to control motion. Regardless of this, it feels great. I’m hoping they make Boost feel like this from now on.
Looks like 1/3 more Boost to me
Above:You can see there is a ton of Boost in the heel and forefoot. Not tiny half dollar sized pieces like Adidas did with the Rose 4 or Nike did with Zoom/Lunarlon.
A little court feel is given up versus the Rose 5 but it isn’t very much and it is totally worth it because it feels so good. Bouncy, responsive, not overly squishy but just right.
If you haven’t tried Boost or have an aversion to Adidas, go out and try it at the store and you’ll see what really exceptional cushioning feels like. And yes it is better than Charged, Micro G and Lunarlon. Hell, toss in unlocked Zoom.
Sizing
I bought both my normal size 11 and 10.5 because I had to make similar decisions with the previous three models; I have been able to fit true to size and half size down so it always came down to preference. I can go with less space in the toe but a tighter fit or go with a little more space in the toe and a slightly less tight fit. Each time I have gone with the size 11 because I get turf toe/ bruised toe nails and going smaller really punishes my toe nails.
I once again started with size 11 and fit these fine although they do seem to have a teeny minute bit of extra length.
Here is how much space I have with an 11 which is pretty much the same as what I have with the 5 and the swapped insole.
After going back and forth with the 11 and 10.5 I decided to stick with my normal 11 and I had no issues with side to side movement or front to back.
They do look a lot larger than normal but fit similarly as the previous Rose 5. My advice is go with what you owned in the past and for me it is true to size. If you have a narrow foot or like a tighter all around feel, go half size down.
Fit
The DRose line has always struck a nice balance of being fairly lightweight but not overly minimal. The Rose 6 still strikes that nice balance but is very plush in the heel collar and tongue.
There is just a ton of padding all the way around especially in the tongue which I found problematic when lacing the Rose 6 (although it was more the strap system’s fault)
Above: comparison of Rose 6 and 5
As stated in the sizing section, I had no issue or movement side to side or back to front. There is less deadspace in the toe box this time around because of a thicker insole at the forefoot (heel is the same thinness as before ) .
Below: top Rose 5, bottom Rose 6
The insole is not made of the PU that was on the 4 though but it doesn’t really matter because of all the Boost.
The improved fit is also due to a sock like inner sleeve that runs from the mid foot all the way into the front of the toe box. Usually sleeves stop where the laces begin. You can feel the padding in the toe box if you reach in. Very Hyperrev 2015 ish which is a good thing. There is still a little deadspace on top but not as much as the 5 and none on the sides.
The materials on this colorway look like mesh but it is actually a mesh overlay on top of synthetic
I personally don’t like plain mesh because it isn’t stiff enough or resilient enough to keep my foot in the footbed so this worked out great for me. The diamond pattern gives the upper a little extra strength but is probably there more for aesthetic purposes.
Above: this is the only seam on the upper.
The materials are not stiff at all and don’t pop or flex weirdly. It does a nice job of conforming to the foot from the get go. Ventilation isn’t anything worth noting, it is just average.
Do the straps do anything?
Of course how can I review the Rose 6 without talking about the strap lacing system ? It’s the first thing the eyes go upon glancing at the shoe.
I’ll straight out say that it doesn’t do anything and would do better with a traditional lacing set up. Let me break down why:
It’s hard to tell from the pic the laces basically skipped a row of laces to help tie in the collar around the ankle. See how the Rose 5 has three rows? That missing row really helps lock the ankle and heel down while providing additional friction to keep the laces in place.
**I’ve been asked if I missed the lace loops inside the shoe and the answer is no I didn’t miss them. They are hidden from the outside but can clearly be seen on the inside. (See pic below)
I mean it works as any eyelets would but if a traditional lace set up were in place or at least another row of laces were in place, it would work much better. The eyelets on the strap go up and down so the pressure of the laces don’t hold down the tongue and press against the ankle. Also the laces don’t run all the way across the ankle (see how narrow they are in pics below)
You wouldn’t try to put a child into a car by criss crossing the belt and attaching it into the roof would you ? That’s similar to what is happening here. You want them strapped all the way around and all the way to the back.
Additionally the puffiness of the tongue and the plastic straps also really made it difficult to lace up correctly because it would push back on the laces and loosen them before I could cinch them down (I guess that’s why the tongue is puffy, since the lace pressure isn’t as good is a traditional set up).
During actual play the laces would loosen some and my heel would slip ( then relace again ). It got better the more I laced them and built up some memory wear and friction but I knew it could be better so I did this to see how much better I could get it.
If you can’t tell from the pic I popped the straps out and laced through the slit twice to create an extra row of laces. The result was perfect lockdown because the laces went across my ankle, not up.
Of course I couldn’t play like that so I fed the laces through the slits with the straps and got excellent lockdown that didn’t loosen during play.
I might drill some holes put some eyelets in and cut the straps off quite honestly. Because the shoe looks pretty clean without them. Very Crazylight Boost 1 like
Ok I lied above . I couldn’t stand it so I used this $8 leather belt hole punch of my wife’s and punched two holes and now I’m very happy.
Bought an $3.99 eyelet kit to make the look cleaner.
Perfect lockdown achieved
**I got some inquires about the hidden lace loops. I did not overlook them they just didn’t work for me (see pics )
Regardless of how the shoes are laced, the fit is good and heel slip is not a problem once you break in the straps and laces. I just thought it could be even better and I was right. If you want to try for yourself, do the lacing methods I did above and you’ll feel the difference I’m talking about. If you want to do what I did, just leave a comment or hit me up on Twitter/Instagram @schwollo and I’ll walk you through it.
More about the straps
Additionally, upon further inspection I noticed the straps criss cross but they don’t tighten at all to provide any additional lockdown or support because the plastic portion that it runs through is fixed and the strap is sewn directly to it.
The eyelet end is sewn onto the plastic strap which is fixed.
So no matter how hard you pull, the tightness is limited by the plastic, not the criss crossing fabric straps.
Oh and the strap on the lateral side hurts if you wear ankle socks because it digs in on cuts. It goes away and isn’t anywhere near as the Hyperdunk 2015 pain.
Overall fit versus the 5 is better but the fit in the heel and lacing system is better in the 5 (without my mod).
Support and stability
Of the the best aspects of the Rose 6 is the support and stability.
The Rose 6 took a play out of the AJ XIV playbook with the assymetrical collar which I love. I always believed this collar design was brilliant because it gave the wearer ankle flexibility on cuts but if you turned the ankle, the higher inner collar could slow or reduce the amount of inversion
OG XIV only in my collection 🙂
The straps don’t do much in regards to support. The heel counter beneath the “backpack” is extremely firm/hard and helps keep everything nice and in line. I guess the lower straps do have some functionality and act as an extended heel counter to help with supports and containment.
The Lux edition actually has Carbon Fiber
As I mentioned earlier, Boost is at the forefoot and heel and the Stable Frame sits midfoot with the X Torsion bar.
In my opinion this combo is the key to allowing Adidas to use so much Boost without feeling unstable. It just keeps everything moving together so there is no instability. The Rose 6 easily passed my heel test. Well done Adidas !
Containment
One of the best features of the Rose 5 was the Fit Frame “rails” that just hugged the foot and kept the the foot contained perfectly.
The Rose 6 also features the Fit frame rails but it isn’t as high or pronounced as it only goes up to that line.
Containment is still excellent though thanks to the Fit Frame rails and the synthetic underlay of the upper. No sliding at all out of the footbed on hard cuts. Ok the straps helped a little too.
Pricing
Retail is $140 but as well we all know, these will be coupon eligible soon and then discounted and then discounted again and again because the public wants to be associated with an NBA champion and not what performs best (I love Drose, just saying…) At $140 the shoe is still well worth it but if you hang on a month or two or six you’ll save some serious cash, probably enough for two pair for $150.
**speak of the devil 30% off at Adidas through 10/31. Code:HOOSIERS
**you can use Eastbay Coupon codes on all colorways now
Conclusion
The general population (i.e. ESPN and Bleacher Report readers) say some of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen when they find out another athlete has signed with Adidas or D Rose has a new shoe. “Kiss those knees goodbye”, “Adidas ruined his ankles”, “does it come with a torn acl”, “those shoes are fugly” That kind of sh*t annoys me but then again it is the Internet. As a sneakerhead community, we know better right ? A swoosh doesn’t make everything golden.
In my opinion Adidas has done a fantastic job with the Rose line with quality materials, new designs, new leathers/textures all within one model. Personally the cracked leather of the Rose 2 was my favorite unique/new material.
With the Rose 6, Adidas is doing it again with multiple materials although I’ve only tried this one so far. I’m sure other reviewers will have a review of the Black Reds. The Lux edition seemed to have less give in the upper than my pair but I can’t pull off Tan leather on the court and these materials worked great for me anyways.
Regarding performance itself, the D Rose 6 is undeniably the best Adidas shoe I’ve ever worn. Yes I had to tweak it a little but when it’s so close to ideal, it’s worth the effort. It’s flexible yet stable and supportive , traction is great, and Boost is simply amazing. Gone are the days of Adidas’s sub standard ancient Adiprene… oh wait sorry D Lillard, J Wall. Maybe next year ? You guys really deserve better.
I think as Adidas continues to really concentrate on basketball and the US market, we are going to see some more serious basketball performance shoes. After years and years of not realizing how much endorsements and cushioning matters to consumers, Adidas finally woke up. I can’t wait until the 200 million dollar man, Mr. James Harden, finally has shoes drop because I think they will be amazing . For now though , I’ll gladly enjoy these D Rose 6.
Nice, great review and that modification really made my brain work haha. Would you think changing the material of the shoe laces will help improve the lockdown/lacing system? I am waiting for my pair and the way this review turned out, I can’t wait to put them on. I’m also thinking if customizing a pair but I’ll wait and see if the lacing system is that bad cause I might destroy it by those modifications lol… Now I’ll wait for the lebron 13 review and i’ll id them (colorways not my type so far) depending on your review. And yes Curry 2’s, budget dictates that I’ll wait for the father to son and professionnal colorways… Thank you and you really inpsired me on anything related to perfromance basketball shoes!

I don’t think the materials make a difference. It’s not bad the normal way but it isn’t as good as it could be. You won’t destroy it it is like using a hole punch . Try the non hole punch method first and see if you like it. I’d never done it before either btw !

I will say Zoom and unlocked zoom are so variable that I’m leaving off the list. When done right, I’ll put it right behind Rose 6 Boost. Unlocked Zoom done like the XX8 feels great but sits a little too high off the ground . XX9 sat lower but didn’t feel as good (still good). Plain real Zoom feels awesome but is rarely found on anything nowadays . Soldier ix was pretty good but Soldier Vi is still better Zoom.
Boost is soft plush and responsive and bouncy from heel to toe which I love. micro G is the same way but to a much lesser extent . Charged is firmer but still has some feedback. Lunarlon feels good for a few days and then goes dead. I found the lunarlon on the Kobe ix too mushy and the iX a little to hard and deed. I think Nike will come up with a new foam or new iteration of lunarlon. Hope that helps !

Great review as always! Honest and true to the bones review. Anyway, how would you compare it with the Curry 2, which of the two would be on top of your list? I think I’ll just wait for the D Rose 6 to hit the outlets lol.

Two very difference shoes. Curry 2 lower firmer ride, better traction on dirty floors. Minimal Upper is stiffer but forms to foot. Rose 6 is very plush soft, cushioning is thicker, softer, Bouncier. It’s hard to pull trigger on shoes when you know they will drop in price. You can use coupon code “Hoosiers” I think for 30% off adidas.com already

I’ve been checking your site every day for this review and it did not disappoint. Good work! Extremely thorough. Great investigation on the full length boost question. Also nice improvement with the added holes. Sucks to see the straps aren’t fully functioning with it sewed to the rubber straps. Even the ancient Crazy 8 / KB8 look to have more functional straps, no?
Seeing as how this is a top 3 shoe for you and it only got a “gets the job done” rating from kick genius, what are your thoughts on that? Has KG been bought out by he swoosh or what?
I definitely will get these soon. I like the black/red looks over this home colorway more but feel it’ll be more stiff and less conforming than these. Dilemmas….

I just watched their review. Their complaint is the away color way upper bc it is stiff. If you don’t like the materials, go get a different pair is my theory.Everything else they seemed to like but due to body language/tone and “job done” rating .same with last year bc they complained about the upper only. I actually don’t really like pure woven uppers/xx9 bc they don’t hold the foot in well on cuts and stops. I’m not a stickler on materials either though either. If traction, fit, and cushioning are great I’m usually happy if you haven’t noticed.

is there any difference in mesh and synthetic leather , regarding to fit , comfort , performance in these two versions of drose 6?

The away colorway is probably stiffer so it maybe less comfortable so it comes down to preference. I don’t get media packs so i have no idea how it feels. For me, materials aren’t a make or break unless it ruins the performance entirely which is rare.

what about that colorway, that has carbon at heel ? is it the same comfort as mesh , home version ?

It is stiffer overall but sits nicely on the foot. I think the textile (home) will be the most flexible and softest of the three. These worked great for me and I’m pretty picky

Hey bro great review. Have a couple questions though:
In regards to the insole, you stated that insole is thicker yet not pu. You think micro g insoles like those on the cfd would help improve fit/cushion?
In the near future would you do a cp3 9 review? That new zoom/traction setup looks amazing and according to nightwing, the traction is amazing yet the zoom felt flat. Just wanted to read your thoughts on the cp3’s setup.
And possibly a zoom flight 95 review as a retro review? Considering that they just retroed thise this year and that I wasnt born yet when those were released, I think that they look amazing and could end up being anazing performers since they use the midsole to lock your foot in and use a pretty good traction pattern that I have heard performs well . Jason kidd is one of my favorite guards of all time and is one of the players that i tried to play like.
Ps: Praying to the guys over at adidas to release a rose 6 low sometime soon….

Cushioning is perfect no need to change it up.fit is fine as well and they are almost the same thickness anyways so wouldn’t do any good.
I have no real interest in the cp3 ix . I never got along with them for some reason. Nw is probably right about the Zoom though .
Flight 95 were good back in 95 but Nike ruined retros since they are really just for looks now. Half ass everything .
That’s why I never bought any retro xivs bc they just made it look like the same shoe. Only Nike retro that performed like the OG
That I can think of recently is the shox bb4.

Just wanted to tell you that you do an amazing job, and I think we are all very appreciative of your thorough reviews. It helps us decide before dropping serious coin. My dilemma is buying a drose 6 customized because I want to use the 30% code, but I think there are no returns or refunds on customized orders. I’m very picky with upper materials, I don’t like stiff uppers with no give. I love woven and I haven’t tried primeknit, but don’t what to choose on the customized menu on adidas. Any ideas or suggestions?

I wouldn’t buy the customized one then bc there are no returns so if the materials or sizing isn’t to your liking you’re screwed .I’d stick to the textile (home) version although I haven’t seen away in person. Textile is closest to woven you’ll get with Rose 6 until a prime knit comes out. There will be another sale w mi adidas don’t worry lol. I suggest buying two sizes if you can and return one you don’t like.

They just released curry 2’s here and they are 9,000 php which is $192, crazy for a UA shoe.Fun fact Rose 6’s, most jordan retros, and probably each brands major sig and team shoe is cheaper than the currys. Hey schwollo! Really nice review, thanks for all the information! I have a question regarding the straps, which are sewed to the rubber straps. What do you think, is it possible and maybe useful to cut the seam between the rubber-strap and the actual strap? Maybe that would unlock the whole strap-system for a better lockdown?
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s a pretty good idea ! However the plastic strap gets stopped at the slit so it wouldn’t help that much to cut the fabric strap off the plastic. The whole strap set up is for looks anyways. Might as well cut them off (maybe in a few months I’ll do it if I’m bored )

Great review!!! But the internal hidden loop didn’t help you out?
LikeLike
No bc it doesn’t put any pressure across
The mid ankle. The hidden loops allow the laces to go across the foot, then the laces go up into the straps . When you pull on the laces upward there isn’t direct pressure from the laces pulling the ankle back into the heel, thus the mod i made. Some people may not notice or care but I felt lockdown was way better this way.

I think both curry two and Rose 6 will wear down fast outdoors. Both have soft rubber
Compounds. Id look at soldier ix for outdoor play quite honestly.

Hey, great review man!
I’m definitely gonna buy a pair, but I’m not sure what size to go with. I’m struggling between the 11 and 11.5.
Seems like there’s a lot of cushioning inside the shoe, so I’m thinking about going with the 11, since you’ve been playing with them for a while, could you tell me how they feel now? Do they get spacier at all?

What size do you normally wear and in what shoes ? They don’t get spacier bc the mesh isn’t mesh but synthetic .

For Nike I’ve been using 11.5, my last pair (hyperdunks) started out feeling perfect, but after about a year they started feeling a little too big. My feet are 28.3 cm with socks on, don’t know if that helps? haha.
I figured the padding inside might get a little compressed, as that is what happened to my hyperdunks, not the mesh itself, but you haven’t experienced that so far?

Which hyperdunk a were they ? Then 2013 had lots of mesh so that’s why they stretched out.
I’d go half a size down if you want a tighter feel. I’m an 11 in the hd and Rose 5,6

Great review!! I just bought the away colourway. I wonder if it’s possible to add the eyelet the synthetic material? Can you send me steps how you did it? Thanks.

Try lacing it like I did first and see if you like the feeling it gives.
I don’t want anyone popping holes for no reason lol. Some people
Don’t mind how it is but I feel it makes a big difference.

Hey! Great review. I am ordering my pair today… but want to ask you your opinion on sizing. I wear a 9.5 for all my bball shoes: I have the Drose 1, Drose 2, Drose 773 (I) and they all fit pretty snug in a 9.5 when I lace them up… also, I have a pair of old Gilbert Arenas shoes in a 9 and they are kind of tight, my toe can’t fit comfortably inside. What do you advise I order for the Drose 6, 9 or 9.5? I am ordering the Home colorway btw. Thanks and keep up the good work

Stay 9.5 unless you want it more
Snug. Sounds like 9 is too small . Rose 2 was long and narrow almost like a half size long length wise . Hope that helps

So I should be fine going tts if the drose 2 & 1 fit me in size 9.5? Thanks a lot dude, im mega hyped cus i haven’t bought a pair of bball shoes in a long time. Cheers !

How about the way of wade 4? Kick Genius and Nightwing reviewed them and liked it. Plus it’s also a dope sneaker. Anticipating your kyrie 2 review!

I’m in the fence about the wow 4. 190 is a lot but I might try. The upper/fit seems to be the highlight of the shoe more than anything else after reading reviews. Everything else seems good not great . But we will see 🙂

Thanks Schwollo!
I used the x-cage slot as the last eyelet for the laces as per your photos. Then I used another set of laces for the x-cage to avoid them flapping all over the place. The setup works very well, the heel slip is almost gone.
This article made a great shoe even better. Thanks SCHWOLLO!

So I finally got the Rose 6 over Curry 2 (didn’t have Curry in my size to try on anyway). Anyway, I know I may sound crazy, but the Boost didn’t feel like I was expecting, and let me explain. I thought Boost was going to feel squishy in the forefoot (like Zoom) but it is firmer than I thought it was going to be. It still offers amazing impact protection and feels “cloudy” when running/walking, but it didn’t feel SQUISHY like I thought it was going to. For example, when you apply direct vertical force down on Zoom, it bounces back and gives more feedback (but doesn’t last as long, doesn’t offer nearly as much impact protection, knees are sore, etc). I’ve played in them for one day so far for about 1 hour. I weight between 188-195 and I’m assuming Boost doesn’t need to be broken in like other foams.
I guess in that aspect I was a little “letdown” with these but I still love them. I also went down half a size in the “Home” mesh colorway (which I have never had to do before, a huge shock for me). Would that effect the feel of the cushioning in that it doesn’t feel “squishy”? I do have to say, the lockdown, fit, etc are GREAT for me. I know you needed the mod, but these are GREAT for me with a half size down. When they go on sale, I will probably get another pair in a half size up for outdoor play (play indoors first to make sure I won’t like THOSE better before destroying them outside lol). Traction is beastly for me, though I haven’t played in any really REALLY dust floors yet.

I see what you mean .. The push back of Zoom is amazing but due to Nike really being sheisty it is hard to find nowadays. As you said there are trade offs . Overall I think what you get out of boost is worth the trade off though. Try lacing through the slits and see how it goes before modding though . They will def hit sales racks around the 60-80 range 🙂

Thanks the awesome reply! I guess that teaches me to ask more questions next time lol, but my wife bought them as a birthday gift anyway. Still love these a ton and they are definitely my go-to. Knees, back, etc feel young again (I’m 29, jumpers knee, bad back, etc). Whatever shoes I purchased I wanted them to be the last shoe I have to buy “ever”, and hopefully Boost lasts “forever”.
If they fail me I’ll try to make Jetlon/Blackfoam as my next cushioning. Prior to the Rose 6 I was playing in the Kobe IX and they were the only shoes I could play in without knee and back soreness, which shocked me because of Lunarlon. The Kobe 8 bottomed out, but the Kobe IX is thicker, lasts longer (even after a year nearly of play), so I’m really excited to journey through Boost.

Boost stays consistent for quite awhile. I can’t tell a difference in my Rose 5 after a year. Jetlon is ok feels a lot like thick Adiprene to me . Somethings aren’t possible to describe in words so you just have to try it . Jumpers knee sucks I’ve had it but it went away ( not a shoe change either). More foam rolling and single leg work helped me fix imbalances in my legs . Nice gift from your wife btw!

Great review! I just purchased a pair last night and looking forward to trying them out tonight. My last pair was the Soldier VIII and I really liked them, but when I compared the IX and Rose 6 head to head at the store the R6 won out. I had one of each on at the same time and tried some quick sprints, jumps and cuts. Performance wise I felt they were both solid, but the difference was in the cushion and response of the R6… wow, can it get better? I’ll have to experiment with the lacing system. I’m all about the DIY mods when it helps and appreciate the suggestion.

Yep both are great but Boost feels so different in a good way. Can’t believe you sprinted in store 🙂 let me know if you need guidance if you feel the need to mod

Thanks for the review. I’m looking for a pair of shoes I can put my custom orthotics in and still play ball.
Would I lose any of the ‘technology’ of this shoe by removing the sole and putting the orthotic in?
Cheers

You might not feel the Boost as much bc of the orthotic but you’ll still feel it and be protected .

Great review. I just wanted to report that the shoe may not be selling well due to Rose’s poor performance. Which is a travesty. Seriously. I’ve never felt a more comfortable yet supportive basketball shoe. I went to my local footlocker in NYC and didnt even see them on display…. a sign of things to come?

It’s been like that ever since he tore his acl a few years back. Ppl want to see him on court and then think the shoes are to blame for his injuries . I picked up Rose 2,3,4 for 35 bucks at the outlet and the 5 for 55 . Good deals for us at least

So as it turns out, the pair that I had was defective. I guess the store that I purchased mine from had bad pairs or something. The lace loop on one of my shoes broke and the sole started falling apart after only 3 weeks of play, so luckily I was able to exchange them. I was lucky enough to get to be Primeknit colorway, and the Boost on these and the other pairs that I tried on were totally different. They are bouncing, soft, responsive, everything that everybody else has described them as. I am actually really happy that I got a defective pair because now I am able to experience Boost the way it was supposed to be felt. Couple that with the primeknot colourway fitting even better than the pair that I had in these are easily the best shoes I’ve ever played in. Boost and the traction make the amazing

Hey man, thanks for taking the time to write these reviews and respond to everyone. I have a question.
My priorities are cushion (developed turf toe pain due to lunar in the Kobe mentalities). It took months! I’m older now so preventing injuries is key.
However I also fractured my ankle wearing those Kobe mentality. So my confidence in lows are shattered.
I tried D Rose and they felt amazing. However the strapping mechanism didn’t seem to be functional at all. I could roll my ankle testig it easily. D rose ankle support add on is also gimmicky. Again I can roll easily in it.
My problem is now that there are no other alternatives with the combination of cushion and traction. At least based on Internet reviews.
What would you suggest? Otherwise I may just buy the roses or soldiers.
Ps: I play indoor and out

Rose 5 is a good blend or cushioning and traction and the soldier vi (soldier IX to a lesser extent). The Rose 5 doesn’t feel quite as good as the 6 but might be what you’re looking for in terms of Cushioning stability and traction. Curry two might be too harsh cushioning wise even though I like the set up. It is very stable as well. One shoe nobody seems to talk about is the Kd8 . I know you lost confidence in lows but it is very protective and had good cushioning and traction (plus on sale now). I reviewed all of them so use the drop down to search. Btw ouch with those injuries hope you’re better !

Found it! Thank you so much man. I will checkout the KD8 and may just buy the Rose 5. While not as cushy, may be the closest thing to what I need. Man, you’re the best.

I got the Rose 5’s today. Great shoe! I got my true size, and feel my ankle going up/down as I step. Im not sure if its the cushion of the boost, or if the ankle not being contained properly. Herm… Will try .5 down and see how that feels.

Hey, so I figured out the problem with the Rose 5’s. The “up and down” feeling I got in the heel was actually the boost! Ha. I was not used to it. When sizing down i didnt feel the boost effect as much. However, some dead space above the front foot. Any idea how to help contain that? I already have thick socks.

If you replace the insole yes take out the existing. Sol soft sells a thin one.
It just needs to be thicker than the existing one. Even an insole from
Your running shoe will work.

Hey there,
