*UA updated their description ..damn did I do that??! *
I have really mixed emotions about the Curry 4. On one hand I love how it looks and certain aspects of how it plays. On the other hand, the Curry 4 is a budget shoe in almost every way but the name. However, even as a budget shoe, UA got the basics down pat which makes it acceptable. But on the third hand (?), the Curry just proves what I’ve always known..it ain’t the shoes. And if you’re wondering what about that proprietary foam, I might have figured it out.
Look how much smaller the Curry 4 size 11.5 is vs a size 11 Curry 3
If you were to take the Curry 3 and go full on opposite Costanaza, the Curry 4 is pretty much what you’d get.
Rather than raising the price from the previous model, UA lowered the price by $10. Instead of an overly padded Curry, UA stripped the Curry 4 down to essentially a shoe and a layer or two material for the upper. Latest and greatest and greatest cushioning and upper? Nope, let’s just go no name. Maybe from now on UA will do like George and just do the opposite of their instincts and maybe they will get rid of their 95% of their basketball clothing line. #Costanza4CEO
According to ESPN’s article Steph wanted “sleek and fast” so what Steph wants, Steph gets. None of us are Steph, so the real question is whether or not that’s what you or I need.
Pros: traction, low to the ground cushioning, fit, stability, outstanding containment
Cons: traction needs some occasional wiping to stay tacky, overly specific fit, no name generic cushioning is firm and unremarkable, experienced slight sizing variation due to QC that caused sizing issues for me, some lace pressure where ankle and foot meet, some break in digging at the forefoot, feels cheap but that’s a value thing
Sizing: Nobody should attempt to go down in size. Runs a little short but true to size for most everyone. Wide footers may want to go up in size for comfort but try them on in the store because the fit is fickle. Bring a combo of socks too. Read the fit and sizing section for the combination that worked for me.
Best for: quick guards and Curry fanboys (including myself of course)
Buying advice: unless you’re buying a high demand colorway, just wait. I didn’t pay retail for any pairs and they are everywhere.
Weight
12.5 ounces puts it in Rare Metal territory. Not as light as the Kobe V or VI but lightweight relative to today’s mids including the Curry 2 and 3 which were around 14.5 ounces
Traction
I had preordered the White Black colorway but due to UA’s sloppy recall process (Don’t worry the white black pair still has the discolored toe smh), I settled for the More Fun which has a solid rubber outsole. It uses similar if not the same rubber to the 2 but with a different pattern. These have a nice bite to them and but need the occasional wipe to stay sticky depending on how dusty the floor is. They don’t get slippery when dusty but you will notice a loss in the bite. The main “weak spot” of the pattern is the lateral forefoot where the pattern tightens and firms up like the Harden V1 but thanks to the rubber, the flexibility, and spacing of the rest of the pattern, it doesn’t get slick.
When clean or freshly wiped, these work fantastic but if they get dusty you’ll need to wipe to revive that bite.
More traction than the 3 and 1 but the Curry 2 and 2.5 still own this category.
Nice job overall though UA!
Cushioning
I might as well leave this part out since UA did the same.
Fit
Sorry this a long read so here is a summary. True to size for most but bring a variety of socks. Wide footers might want to go up half a size but extra bring socks
The Curry 4 is a tweener for me. It runs somewhat short by about quarter to half a size but I can still fit it. I tried half a size up at 11.5 and liked the length and width better but the overall fit wasn’t as good even with thick Stance NBA socks. Side to side I had no movement or heel slip true to size but half a size up I had tiny bit of dead space around the entire shoe. I tried true to size but the shorter length and tighter width wouldn’t let my toes splay and my foot would bang the front so I went half a size up. With half a size up I had to go with one thick sock and one thin sock to make it fit the way I wanted.
I suggest true to size for regular and narrow footers. Wide footers can go up half a size BUT you need to try them on. I also suggest bringing thinner and thicker socks to try them because unfortunately it makes a difference with the overall comfort and fit because there isn’t much wiggle room for error..literally and figuratively.
The Curry 4 is the antithesis of the Curry 3 and has almost zero padding including inside around the heel.
It isn’t contoured much and there is (3)Zero padding so that’s why there isn’t much room for error with the sizing. It’s frustrating knowing that I have to wear a specific pair or socks to accommodate a certain shoe but if you’re willing to try different combos of socks, you’ll eventually get it right.
Further adding to the frustration of finding the right fit was the sizing variation which isn’t a big deal normally but the way the Curry 4 is designed, slight variances makes a difference.
I know it’s hard to tell from the pic but the white colorways as well as the black pair not pictured all run a little longer than the blue pairs. These two blue pair ran were almost the same length as the white pairs but still ran a little short. All size 11
Moving on, the rest of the shoe fits like a glove. These are so minimally padded that they run smaller than my Nike Free’s which are already already form fitting and small. There is some dead space and bunching above the forefoot but that’s due to the one piece sock design more than anything.
11.5 in both the Curry 4 and the Nike Free
No wasted materials or space should equate to better quicker movement on court at least in theory.
Overall the fit is excellent if you fit the shoe correctly or if you adjust to the shoe by wearing thinner or thicker socks. If you’re a tweener, try them on in store and bring different types of socks. It was a lot more work than it should have been for me but that’s the problem with not wanting to settle.
Materials
It’s 2009 y’all !! Synthetic is back again and nobody would mistake this upper for Flyknit or Primeknit. UA incorporated the strength of synthetic to benefit the player to keep the foot on the footbed on hard cuts. The entire shoe is a one piece knit sock with a bonded synthetic covering 2/3 of the shoes. The “tongue” and majority of the medial side is uncovered to keep flexibility and for comfort. You can feel the glue on the entire inside as well which is why it may feel uncomfortable to start. Very early Hyperdunkish feel since the majority of your foot is touching an unpadded stiff surface.
There is some flexing issues as I had some digging at the forefoot the first hour or so but it goes away after that. UA calls it a microfiber synthetic and if you look really closely you can see some of the texture to consider it a microfiber but you have to look pretty damn close.
I have no issues with the materials but I know others do. If you don’t like that hollow sound plasticky shoes make when you tap on them, buy something else. If you’re a materials snob, wait for the black gold colorway because it is a synthetic suede that feels much softer to the touch.
Yes these are mine, all mine. Thanks eBay!
Overall, materials feel cheap and may turn off some consumers. But you know my take on materials by now.
Support and Stability
Support is decent but majority of the support comes from the fit and the contoured midsole. The actual heel counter is real tiny and flexible unlike the Soldier XI.
One thing I found interesting is that there is a some slight support on the lateral side due to the synthetic. It isn’t D Rose level but at least it’s something.
There is also the Speedplate which provides midfoot support and assists with containment.
Stability really shines on the Curry 4. Low to the ground, firm cushioning, forefoot outrigger, a split heel, and a very stable wide outsole reminiscent of the Curry 2 just feels stable and safe on all movements.
Great job UA!
Containment
The Curry 4 is all about quickness and no wasted movements and the Curry 4 excels at containment.
The Curry 4 features a raised midsole that runs all the way around the show to form a nice bucket as well as the Speed Plate that extends up the lateral side. In addition you have the synthetic upper on the entire lateral side.
Just fantastic. You’re welcome UA, just send me a Champ Pack and we can call it even.
Cushioning
You didn’t really think I’d skip an entire section did you?
The Curry 4 sits very low and has a firm, minimal cushioning set up. It is not as firm as the Kyrie set up and still has a little give to it. If you liked the old DRose 1-4, Crazyquicks, Non Boost Crazylights cushioning set ups you’ll probably like these since it has a similar height and a very slightly softer feel. These actually sit about 18-20 mm which is lower than Curry 2 by about 3 millimeters. My Nike Free’s are about the same height and feel awfully similar underfoot.
*just did a measurement of the AJ XXXI since someone asked and it sits at around 20 mm as well. Way better cushioning and similar height I’ll take that any day*
What is this cushioning you may ask? It is the Cushioning with No Name . UA states that the foam is a UA proprietary foam which is really just code for generic cushioning like Phylon or in this case EVUA (I’ll have to trademark that before UA does).
Nooooo, it can’t be, it must be a propriety foam they just haven’t named yet you say? Cushioning tech is the number one marketing angle that sneaker companies use so for UA to leave it out altogether and not even bother to name it says it’s just a whatever foam. It isn’t even mentioned in the ESPN article linked above and nobody can get an answer or even a good marketing story from UA. Peculiar isn’t it?
Oops did someone slip?Per Sole Collector’s Kort Neumann interview, the designer of the Curry 3Zero and 4

In all fairness, I think there is there is some kind of crash pad since there is that little bit of spring but once again why the secrecy? I cut open the strobel to take a peak inside but I really couldn’t tell what it was inside.
Even if there is, the midsole is mostly EVA. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck as I always say. Hey Under Armour you can use EVUA , it’s catchy and truthful at the same time.
Name aside, I had no issues with the cushioning even if it isn’t my favorite but it does have a little spring to it and it plays quick and firm. Some of the “comfort” comes from the insole which isn’t Micro G but it is thick enough to hide some of the firmness of the actual foam. I swapped the insole out with a Micro G insole and it really didn’t make a difference in how the cushioning felt because it the midsole is just that dense and dead. Don’t forget that Speed Plate is occupying a lot of that midsole as well.
This is as much as I can squeeze the insole so it really isn’t doing much in terms of additional cushioning
If this is indeed EVUA, which it really seems to be, don’t stress because it can feel okay out of the box like the Risewear 720 but it dies quickly so I don’t expect this cushioning to last long. It isn’t going to feel much different after it dies anyways since it already plays firm.
Relative to other shoes out there, these do not have much bounce or fun factor except a little in the heel. The main benefit of this set up is that it’s just flexible and low to the ground. Play in the Curry 4 for a bit then switch to something else and you’ll feel the difference immediately.
If you really want to wear the Curry 4 and want more cushioning, add another insole on top of the existing one or just replace with with a thicker aftermarket insole. Be careful though because the fit of the Curry 4 is fickle (sorry I keep saying fickle, it’s the best way to describe it) and if you get too thick on an insole, you might get some heel slip. I’ve found the Curry 4 isn’t really modification friendly. Sadly, I found that wearing more socks makes the Curry 4 more comfortable.
If you didn’t like the Charged set up on the Curry 2 or 3 you’ll hate these, simple as that.
Conclusion
Who does number 2, I mean 4, work for ?
It is for the quick guard who likes a low to the ground ride with responsive cushioning, tight traction, stability and containment for quick cuts and movements. Or basically what we all pretend to be. Now in reality, how do you really play and what do you really need ? Be honest with yourself.
I absolutely hated the shoe the first few times I wore them but part of it was out of frustration trying to find the right size. But after a few days, I started to enjoy playing in them. Freedom up top with an ultra stable base is something I really like and the sock like one to one fit made the shoe feel like an extension of my foot. Great traction also cures a lot of faults for me.
However, despite the good fof the Curry 4, the Curry 4 isn’t going to make the cut because it isn’t what I need nor does it provide the much value. The “proprietary foam” doesn’t provide More Fun; as much as I love Steph, I won’t mince words, the cushioning is boring, even if it does an adequate job absorbing impact for me. And it probably won’t last since EVA is notorious for short wear life. Also, the in between sizing and quality control really bothered me but that’s just me and picky feet. I I went through my memory database and the shoe reminds me a lot of the Hyperdunk 2012 but with a more flexible ankle collar and lower, less springy ride. If that sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll enjoy the Curry 4.
Where does this rank among the Curry line? It has its strengths but the Curry 2 and 2.5 still remain at the top due to its superior traction and better cushioning. I’d put Curry 4 in second by a hair since it has better traction and fit than the 1 and 3 and leave those two to duke out the bottom spot. The only thing the Curry 4 does slightly better than the 2 is the fit and that was after a lot of trial and error. I’ll use the Curry 4 on occasion but I can’t say it’s something I’d reach for since the 2 does what I need even better.
If you’re after the Curry 4, just do as I always say and just wait. Lots and lots and lots of colorways will end up with lots and lots of excess inventory. I haven’t paid more than $116 yet and on average, they’ve only cost me around $100.
At a retail price of $130, the Curry 4 toes the line between being a being premium or budget shoe. Based on materials and (lack of) tech specs, it’s really a budget shoe but add in “SC” and UA can charge $130 especially on its Championship pedigree and its looks. Let’s face it, 99% of the consumers will buy this shoe for the name and looks, not the tech or performance so it does make sense for UA from a business standpoint. At least we know why the China colorway was called More Magic.. the sneaker biz is all smoke and mirrors. Go work on your game if you actually want to get better.
love the last part! “work on your game if you want to be better”. For someone who doesn’t like the shoe, you have more pairs than you actually need! How, sending one my way?lol. JK..I know, you say its about 12.5 ounces ( i think the Kobe V was 12 ounces). Do these feel light on foot? The lack of padding should make it lighter. Though I don’t understand why it isn’t. If the well padded and cushioned Kobe V could weigh less, why can’t these? They should have stuck to CB for the mid foot shank. Any back on knee pains you’d associate with these?I do love shoes low to the ground (I think Kobe Vs and the Zoom BB were around 10-15mm / maybe lower if I remember correctly), but the cushion might be a deal breaker for my back and knees. I can’t believe the fit varies between the colorways. For someones that gets shoes online, I am going to have a tough time getting one that will fit me correctly. I hope UA does a updated version pre-playoffs that will play better (with better fit and cushion?). Still waiting for the lows though. When are they releasing?

Haha I’m a curry fan boy what can I say? Usually a mid adds about one ounce of weight so there’s that. Overly dense eva might add to the weight ? I had no back or knee issues but I’m in pretty good overall shape (not bragging just saying). Most people will fit true to size but I’d go in store if possible regardless. No idea about lows but probably feb or late in the season. Still a bunch of other mid colorways.

Sounds a bit braggy to me. Ahaha. If its lightweight and sits low to the ground i think its worth a try. I don’t play above the rim so I don’t ,mind the lack of cushioning. Though I do prefer it as these creaky knees need a bit of a bounce when I play for more than an hour. I just noticed that the knitted collar looks loose. I’ve always been suspect of this kind of material there. I know they use it on soccer boots and recently the flyknit hyperdunks. I have the impression they give after some time and feel real bad to wear after that. Unless you wear ankle braces, which helps with the fit. I’d give these a go if I can get it for 70£ like the Curry 2’s or better yet, 50£ for the 3’s..

I don’t mind the cushioning either but since it appears to be mostly EVA, it isn’t going to last. The knit collar fits me fine but the laces cinch it. The knit does nothing in terms of support just gives the player a feel around the ankles. Curry 2 still reigns supreme for me and st 60 bucks, I’ll take them. Lol

Hey so I just bought these curry 4s today and I’m regularly a size 11.5 and I would say I have a normal foot not narrow nor wide footed. So when I tried them on I had space that was the length of the side of my thumb and I saw that your supposed to go true to size but I can normally rock size 12 but I’m hesitant to take these on the court bc you said that people should go true to size bc the shoes conforms to your foot. So do u think I’m okay with playing in a half a size up or should I return them. Sorry if this is out of the blue Ik this review came out almost 3 years ago but I’ve been looking all over the internet and YouTube to what i should do. I hope u can help me solve this problem.

Side of your thumbs so about a pointer finger width ? That’s my preferred space jn the toe box. Move around in them at home add another pair of socks or an extra insole until you get a fit you like. Half a size up or down usually won’t hurt anyone but at least you can add layers to tighten up the fit . These aren’t the most adaptive fitting shoes out there. Hope that helps

Thanks for the review. I think I’ll just stick with the 2s and 2.5s, since I need more support and durability.

Out of curiosity and to compare, how high off the ground are the Jordan XXXI lows and Zoom BBs?
And how have you been able to get these under retail? I’ve been looking to pick up a pair, but not at retail

Got under retail with some codes that worked around thanksgiving but now they don’t work. MyFitnessPal coupon just came and it works on ua as well

Hey Schwollo..Really?20mm?I was sure it was much lower than that. I think for the Kobe V, it was advertised to be the ‘lowest’ shoe ever at 12mm. The fit felt the same, so I figure it was about the same profile. Still waiting for my Black Friday pick up. UPS messed up my delivery while I was away (again!).

Just measured it and it’s about 20mm from top on insole to bottom of the sole.

Do you think you can put an insole in the shoe? Or would it make your foot sit to high, increasing your chances of rolling your ankle?
LikeLike
You can and it will sit higher but shoe is stable enough that I doubt it will really increase chances of an ankle roll. However sticking a thicker insole might make your heel slip bc of the way the heel counter is unpadded . That’s why I keep saying it’s fickle

Given that Curry is the main seller for UA BB (and that the average person buying these probably prefers a more soft and fun cushion) I have never understood why they don’t make a MicroG version of the shoe – maybe something like the Harden LS shoe where they made the materials and overall shoe a bit more premium and softer to meet the needs of those that aren’t hardcore Bball players (but instead are buying the shoe more for casual game play or casual wear in general). Anyways I like cushion and even the 2.5’s weren’t enough for me so I will look elsewhere. Despite the cgeap looking synthetic the shoe still looks great overall so I am sure it will sell great.

The fit sounds like it was a huge pain to get through, but being able to write it out and explain it to us readers so we can fully understand is quite the talent. Great job!
I’m a little torn with this shoe – part of me wants to say I’m disappointed, but then on the other hand, I’m not surprised either.
It’s not surprising that UA came out with another Curry with minimal cushioning – I just don’t get all the secrecy. I don’t know if I should applaud them for not slapping some fancy name on it and trying to market it as a cool new feature.
Ultimately, this is a pass for me as a highly value cushion. Part of me wants Curry to age quickly so his shoes might get a bump up in the cushioning department as I like most of the other aspects of shoes.
Keep up the great work

Haha you can’t really beat Seinfeld. Even his Netflix special was funny and I thought it was going to suck.
Finding the right fit was very frustrating for me so it’s hard to condense things when there is a lot going on. The More Fun colorway seems to run smaller than the others as well which was super annoying for me.
I do like the no tech no name policy but I think spelling out EVA is like saying bargain basement cushioning so that’s why they kept it so hush hush..who wants the same cushioning as a 30 dollar shoe? In the end it doesn’t matter in terms of performance but It isn’t the best or most fun out there. They did get the essentials down at least which is great

Does this shoe have the worst cushion of all the currys? Im 160 pounds, and I jump and land with good technique, but I jump and land alot. Do you think these would have enough impact protection, or should I look somewhere else?
LikeLike
Impact protection is there for the time being but this is 95% EVA which is know to compress faster than others. This and the One are the two worst imo. One is very firm and dead as well. Firm cushioning won’t kill you but relative to other shoes this isn’t nearly the best. If you want a low ride but some fun, go w Zoom. If you don’t mind more height Boost or Bounce works. Your technique and fitness will be more of a factor than a pair of shoes.

Not sure why my experience has been so different than most others but I’ve had a decent experience with the cushion. I did replace the stock insole with my own special combination though. Normally I use a superfeet blue orthotic because I have flat feet and like the extra support. This time around I stuck one of the paper thin adidas insoles that come with shoes like the CLB 16 and CE on top to add a little more step in comfort. This combination actually provides good impact protection and responsiveness. Granted I don’t feel the bounce you get from unlocked zoom or the plushness of boost but for me it’s more than adequate. I think the extra insoles have also helped fill some of the dead space I have since I went up a 1/2 size from my TTS. Overall I’ve had a very enjoyable time playing in this shoe so far.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yep I tried different combos of insoles but I’d get too high and my heel would slip so socks was the best way to fix half a size up. I don’t think the cushioning is bad in terms of impact protection it just isn’t fun and feels like a slab of nothing for me. Your combo no doubt will help with cushioning . If you go true to size And added an insole it would be super tight. Just annoying that the shoe is that particular .

Been reading your reviews for a bit man, keep it up. Hope your ankle is healing up well. I was hoping you could point me in a good direction here, I am looking for a new pair of shoes. I got the JB XXXI lows when they were on sale, and their great except for my ankles don’t seem to cater to the support that they provide too well. My previous shoe was the CLB2016, which other than the fit i loved. Any advice on where I should turn to? Thank you for the time.

I’ve followed your blog for a while but never posted. Thanks so much for your great reviews. I live at the bottom of the world (New Zealand) and Bball shoes are super expensive here, and you can’t get many of them. Buying online can be quite expensive with shipping.
So when I spent 2 weeks in Northern California recently I took a lot of time to visit shops and try on different shoes. My current rotation is Curry 2 and 2.5. I wear Zaamst braces and find the 2.5s make the braces cut into my ankle which really hurt. Anyways I wanted to love the Curry 4s and spent maybe 90 minutes in store wearing them with my socks and braces. They were so hard to put on with the braces. Had to go up 1/2 size and then they just felt really uncomfortable. I didn’t feel stable, I worried about the lack of stitching and glue and the pain I felt in the top mid foot put me off. I gave up and for a laugh tried on the PG1’s with the braces. After reading reviews in shop and deciding that I needed some cushion for my bad lower back, I ended up walking out with a pair of PG1s (1/2 size up considering braces) and have played a few games in them. I’m loving them.
So gutted the Curry 4s didn’t deliver what I needed this time. I wanted so much to like them.
Again thanks so much for your blog.

Thanks Matt that means a lot to me 2.5 might be a little narrow in the ankle for a zamst but somehow curry makes it work with his skinny ankles I guess. Pg1 is a solid shoe all around just not enough to break my top ten. Looks great too.
As for the expensive shoes in NZ, I’ll bet they are pricey down there but you get to live in NZ of all places. One of the places I want to visit.

Hi schwollo a size 10 is what I’m thinking too based on the side by side pic you have with the Curry 3. The Curry 2 is the best fit and length for me (i usually have one i ndex finger gap between tip of toe to the top of shoe). I half sized down on Curry 3 because they were longer. Wish you can post a pic with the Curry 4 side by side with a Curry 2 and possibly all Currry lines. Thanks!

I have the curry 3 in a size 14 and it fits perfectly and I am thinking about grabbing a pair of the 4s, would the same size as the 3 work, or should I go down/up half? Second question, why didnt ua just give curry charged like they usually do? Seems kind of odd to just put eva in their only signature basketball shoe

-On a scale of 1 (slickest) to 10 (grippiest) how good is the translucent outsole on dusty floors? Diggin that black and gold CW
Lastly aside from the Curry 2, which shoe comes close in terms of overall experience?
Great review as always!

Yes lightweight
Heel toe transition is fine all same foam
No doesn’t feel like a low bc the lacing system and how high it goes up around the ankle.
Didn’t play in translucent don’t plan to bc I don’t like the shoe all that much. Just for collecting purposes.
Closest thing to this shoe? Cushioning feels like lower ride risewear 720 cushioning, the upper and fit feels like the Kobe 3 but one piece upper.

hi schwollo, just wondering whats your shoe size on curry 2’s and what was the fit like on the 2’s for you so i can compare it with your fit to the 4’s. thx for this review btw, i’ve enjoyed reading it =)

was quite sure i’d pick up another curry2 but seeing the more dimes and more range cw dropping, got me thinking again, damn lol

More dimes is sexy.. I forgot who I told but if you like how it looks you won’t regret buying them. My more dimes fits a little better than the others for some reason so I’m guessing the more range will too. In these two colorways id say true to size could work..same with more rings. Best to try on in store if you can find a store but half a size up is the safest bet esp if you have wide feet or like more length

I have both 11.5 and 11 in the Curry 2. They run a little short as well but not as short and tight as the 4. I can wear 11.5 and I have no issues with the fit but with 11.5 curry 4 I need extra socks due to the design. If you can’t try on anywhere go half a size up to be safe. It’s more comfortable and you have some wiggle room for an extra insole or thick socks. The length of the Curry 4 11.5 is the right length for me while the 11 is short. All that being said I’ve found different color ways fit differently ..about to read your other post loo

I actually love the shoe (great traction, court feel, fit, and the cushioning doesn’t bother me). Break in wasn’t bad either, but that might be because I got em around Christmas and I was able to just wear em around the house for a couple days before I played. First mid I’ve played in since something like ’07 and I don’t hate it, although I just saw the lows that are supposed to drop this Friday look fire and think I might have been too hasty picking up the mids haha. Might pick up a pair of lows but I’m worried it’ll have the same heel slip issues the Curry 2 lows did. It does look like they changed the heel counter from the mids this time around though.
You weren’t kidding about the quality control issues though. I couldn’t figure out why my right shoe felt just a little looser but then I put my shoes up against the wall (heels to the baseboard) and realized that the right shoe was about an 1/8 inch longer 😦 Might have to double sock just my right foot lmao

Sweet glad they worked out for you! It could be Qc or your right foot is just a little smaller and you never noticed before haha
Lows look good in some colorways so imjght get a pair too

The difference in foot size is a possibility, but there’s definitely a slight length difference in the shoes themselves.
Everything I’ve heard about the lows makes me wanna grab a pair! The materials seem to be nicer, but I haven’t seem them in person yet. Only thing I’m concerned about is if there will be heel slip. Have you picked up a pair yet?

I just posted my review of the lows. I had heel slippage in case you were wondering.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – best reviews in the game. Just curious – do you write for a living?
I tried the Curry 4’s on for the first time today, and to be honest, I thought they felt pretty bad. The upper was painfully stiff. Just walking in them, the creasing would dig sharply into my toes/forefoot. Did you experience this, and does the material soften up significantly with wear? And the fit… was pretty much exactly like you described. With my usual size (and Curry 2 size) my toes were dangerously close the front, and it just felt weird… like the outsole wasn’t flexing where it was supposed to be or something. However, with a half size up, the fit felt a bit sloppy.
Also, what would you say would be alternatives to the Curry 4? Something similar, that out-Curry’s the Curry 4’s so to speak – light weight, low to the ground, with firm cushioning? I have patellofemoral pain, and I find that the extra stability that comes from low profile, firm cushioning seems to help considerably.

Yes experienced everything you said. Pinching and weird flexing but it went away. Not many shoes in the 12.5 ounce range. Why not does a good job staying low w firmer cushioning or my old standby the Curry 2. Thanks for the love Thomas , no I do not write for a living. My writing is terrible and is too conversational but I have fun with it.
